Electrical & Instrumentation Assistant Site Engineer

China National Chemical Engineering No.14 Construction Co., Ltd. (Branch Office) is seeking a qualified, motivated, and experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Assistant Site Engineer to join our construction project in Katunayake, Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer in supervising all electrical and instrumentation works carried out at the project site.
  • Carry out check on the design for “buildability” and/or workability to the actual site conditions.
  • Check and review the design against the specifications and contract requirements and coordinate the same to the design engineer.
  • Perform calculation checks as and when required to satisfy the clarifications from consultants and/or client.
  • Coordinate and supervise the works of the subcontractors performing electrical and instrumentation works on site including but not limited to:
  • Main power distribution system including cabling system
  • Cathodic protection system
  • Lighting systems
  • Lightning protection and grounding systems
  • Building power systems
  • Extra-Low Voltage systems such as CCTV, access control, Public Address, LED signage system, Telephone and LAN systems.
  • SCADA testing and commissioning
  • Instrumentation installation and testing
  • Fire detection system installation and testing
  • Extra-Low Voltage systems such as CCTV, access control, Public Address, LED signage system, Telephone and LAN systems.
  • Support the testing and commissioning of the above systems.
  • Coordinate with the inspectors and client representatives for the inspection and preparation and signing off of the inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with the specialist sub-contractor for the manpower scheduling software development until completion.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors to resolve technical issue at site and in office.
  • Coordinate with engineers of other disciplines within the construction team.
  • Assist in sourcing suppliers and/or subcontractors for ad-hoc works as and when required.
  • Assist in preparation of project schedule, related work procedure/method statement and monthly progress claim.
  • Coordination with the subcontractors for the as-built documentations.
  • Be willing to work night shifts when required.
  • Any works that may be assigned by the project manager from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Cheerful personality with a good learning attitude. Self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent attention to accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments in regards with the stock movements/ transfers/ returns & delivery matters.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written).
