Assistant Civil Engineer cum Quality Control (QC)

China National Chemical Engineering No.14 Construction Co., Ltd. (Branch Office) is seeking a qualified, motivated, and experienced Assistant Civil Engineer cum Quality Control (QC) to join our construction project in Katunayake, Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Civil Engineer in supervising all civil works carried out at the project site.
  • Carry out check on the design for buildability and/or workability to the actual site conditions and address to the Civil Engineer and/or Project Manager.
  • Check and review the design against the specifications and contract requirements and coordinate the same to the design engineer
  • To lead a site Management team to complete the project on time and within budget
  • Liaison with the client, consultant, suppliers (sub-contractors) and other relevant authorities on general management issues pertaining to the project.
  • Liaise with clients and authorities on technical matters.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee material testing and inspection to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulations before use.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection logs, test reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), & method statements ensuring accurate and organized records.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address any quality-related issues and ensure alignment on quality goals.
  • Supervise subcontractors to ensure their work meets quality standards, providing technical support and guidance as needed.
  • Identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee materials procurement to ensure that all materials meet project quality standards, reviewing submittals and certifications.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials on-site to prevent damage and deterioration, maintaining material integrity.
  • Train site staff and subcontractors on quality control standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent quality on-site.
  • Be willing to work night shifts when required.
  • Any works that may be assigned by the project manager from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Cheerful personality with a good learning attitude. Self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent attention to accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments in regards with the stock movements/ transfers/ returns & delivery matters
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written).
