MECHANICAL ENGINEER – Improvement Project - (MTD)
Indian tyre manufacturer CEAT ltd, which has a strong presence in Sri Lanka, has incorporated a new subsidiary, CEAT OHT Lanka (pvt) Ltd, in Sri Lanka as part of its strategy to expand its off-road/highway tyre (OHT) business. We are looking for an energetic individual to join with our Engineering team and move with our journey.
Job Summary
To lead the team, ensure the Engineering related improvement such as Safety, Quality, Productivity while optimizing their maintenance cost and in a continuous improvement approach. This is to allow smooth functioning of a Daily Management System (DMS) and its sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Full understanding of Plant Daily Management System and attend assigned meetings as per schedule
- Review and accept all Improvement and Hazard related ideas relevant to Engineering Department which are submitted by members
- Analyze the work and plan the jobs in complete cycle (Inspection the site, Conceptualize the need, Design/arrange drawings if required, prepare BOQ, order material, manpower allocation, execution)
- Prepare weekly plan in liaison with Planning Engineer
- Weekly Submit work progress, material & manpower cost and other relevant information to Senior Engineering Manager
- Ensure plant HVAC systems, especially EV Coolers are maintained at optimum level
- Attend minor Civil Engineering related matters in liaison with Plant Civil Engineer
- Ensure Plant Safety guidelines are fully complied when executing jobs
- Responsible to Lead the team and develop their competencies (Through theoretical and practical training) based on business requirement to achieve relevant KPIs
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree / NDT in Mechanical Engineering, or any other equivalent qualification.
Experience: 3-4 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing organization.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills in both English & Sinhala and good interpersonal relationship skills.
- Customer focus, Teamwork & Collaboration, Leadership, People management skills and Problem-Solving skills.
- Exposure in Project management including Planning, Scheduling and budgeting will be an added advantage.
