FINANCE PROJECT PARTNER

Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Beverages and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.

The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Finance Project Partner. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of sector New Business Related Projects from initiation through completion. Key responsibilities include preparing detailed financial feasibility studies in collaboration with management accounting and corporate finance teams; coordinating with the Legal team to finalize financial and payment terms during contract negotiations; and working closely with the Finance Department and Group Treasury to secure and manage project funding. The role also entails preparing board presentation and approval documentation, maintaining accurate financial records throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing Letters of Credit and contractual terms, and ensuring timely payments in accordance with contractual obligations and internal approval processes. Additionally, the Finance Project Partner liaises with banks for loan drawdowns, engages proactively with internal and external stakeholders, provides periodic project status and variance reports, and monitors project costs against approved budgets to ensure effective financial control.

The selected candidates will be responsible for:

  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive project feasibility reports by consolidating insights from research data, operational, and finance teams.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal finance, tax, and corporate finance teams to develop detailed financial feasibility assessments for proposed initiatives.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of Board approval documentation for new projects, aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Work with research agencies in getting the required data and sharing management insights from data analytics.
  • Coordinate with the legal team to finalize finance-related clauses in project contracts.
  • Review and maintain all project documentation, including contracts, guarantees, and letters of credit.
  • Verify that contractors have obtained insurance policies as stipulated in the contractual requirements for the project.
  • Liaise with banking partners and the group treasury team to secure the necessary financial arrangements for project execution.
  • Oversee and manage all project-related payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance, while maintaining comprehensive records of all financial transactions associated with the project.
  • Provide periodic reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) to management, including detailed analysis of project variances between actual performance and budgeted figures, as well as updated forecasts.
  • Ensure timely closure of project accounts upon completing the projects.
  • Prepare and submit all statutory government reports and tax returns related to project activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake additional assignments and responsibilities as directed by the Accounting Supervisor, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational standards.
