AUDIT MANAGER – BANKING & FINANCE

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage risk-based external audit engagements for banks and financial institutions in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of technical and ethical standards, banking laws, and regulatory frameworks to deliver high-quality audit engagements.
  • Evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements, including Basel frameworks, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, and other applicable banking standards.
  • Assess the effectiveness of financial and operational controls across key business functions within banking and financial services entities.
  • Plan, execute, and complete financial statement audits within agreed timelines and budgets while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Identify business process risks and recommend practical, value-added solutions to strengthen governance and internal controls.
  • Design and execute audit testing strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of internal control frameworks.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while providing timely and professional audit insights.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor audit teams by supporting the technical and professional development of junior staff.
  • Plan, allocate, and manage engagement resources efficiently to ensure the successful delivery of multiple audit assignments.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified in CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years' external audit experience, including significant exposure to banking and financial services clients.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA, banking regulations, Basel frameworks, and AML requirements.
  • Proven leadership, project management, and people management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
