Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) has about 14 years of extensive experience in working with Youth, Civil society organizations, Women's organizations, academia and policy reformists, through a unique approach and theory of change. SDJF has reached the pinnacle of advocating for diverse, just, equal and gender-sensitive media through its educational initiatives. Using innovative and state of the art communication strategies and communication plans, SDJF has proven itself to be in the lead in promoting development, peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka. It has proven time and time again that media has the power for positive social transformation if steered with steady and trustworthy hands. Registered as a non-governmental and national level organization that has been in operation since 2009. SDJF employs a variety of media tools and has institutionalized development communication principles to address voice poverty in the communities in Sri Lanka. A well-established media-based organization, SDJF operates with extensive experience in steering media towards democratization and social transformation process. SDJF work closely with local media organizations, International media development agencies, civil society organizations, institutes of higher education, youth and women development movements and other organizations that promote democracy and pluralism towards building inclusive societies.

About the Project

The SDJF is looking for motivated, dynamic and experienced Account Officer to join our energetic team for the project titled 'Minority Empowerment for Democracy and Pluralism in Sri Lanka' in collaboration with Minority Rights Group International and funded by European Union. The project envisioned to increase the capacity of minority youth and women to be active in the decision making, political representation. The Account Officer is a key player in managing day today finance and book keeping of the entire project.. The detail job description is listed below.

Purpose;

Under the broad guidance of the Finance & Administration Director, the Accounts Officer has the primary responsibility for managing the day-to-day finance and administration work related to the 'Minority Empowerment for Democracy and Pluralism in Sri Lanka' project based on SDJF financial regulations and guidelines.

The Account Officer will also be responsible for maintaining books of accounts, petty cash accounts, bank statements and reconciliation, vouchers, receipts and other financial documents under the above project in hard copies and electronically.

Key Responsibilities;

Assist Finance & Administration Director to prepare and maintain relevant books of accounts.

Assist Finance & Administration Director to prepare monthly reconciliation of bank

statements.

Manage the office petty cash.

Ensure payment requests are properly supported and are in accordance with relevant financial rules, regulations, and procedures with adequate budget provisions. Process for the signature of the authorized officers, the relevant documentations to effect payment while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the processed transactions.

  • Maintain relevant hard and electronic records and files related to the finance functionParticipate in the preparation of both monthly and other regular financial reports with the Finance Manager.
  • Procure goods and services required for project implementation in consultation with the Program Director, Finance & Administration Director and in line with SDJF's Procurement Policy.
  • Support annual field audit preparation.

Track all SDJF inventory and ensure that these are entered in the inventory file. Responsible for SDJF office maintenance such as paying utility bills on time, payment of rental, payment of cleaning service, etc.

Responsible for office supplies and ensuring the proper supplies are in place. Responsible for maintenance of office documents and files.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Finance & Administration Director.

Commencement; Immediately

Salary; Decided based on the past salary history, qualifications and experience.
