Head of Legal

Responsibilities will include:
- Maintain regular communication and reporting with regulatory bodies as per legal requirements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors and Senior Management on legal and compliance matters.
Stay updated on industry practices and regulations affecting the Company's operations.
Ensure local procedures comply with regulations and maintain thorough documentation.
- Provide training to staff on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with training standards.
- Offer guidance to staff on regulatory issues as needed.
- Oversee client due diligence procedures to ensure compliance.
- Assess and report on the Company's compliance status to senior management and the Board.
- Ensure Company policies align with local and international regulations and standards.
- Monitor and enforce policies related to money laundering and terrorist financing prevention.
Implement risk management procedures and assess departmental compliance.
Set and monitor divisional objectives and oversee legal department staff development.
Prepare and review various legal documents, including reports and agreements.
Qualifications:
Possession of a Bachelor of Law/Master's Degree in law and /or other postgraduate qualifications would be an added advantage.
Proven experience in leadership or senior management roles within a legal department or law firm, including managing legal teams and providing strategic direction.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal stakeholders, external parties, and legal professionals.
• Strong analytical abilities and the ability to think critically to assess legal issues, identify risks, and develop solutions. Demonstrated strategic thinking and the ability to align legal objectives with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, regulatory agencies, and other relevant parties.
A commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations to protect the organization's interests and reputation.
