Position Overview:

ChildFund Sri Lanka is looking for an enthusiastic and talented young person who is keen to obtain exposure in the development sector in areas of education & skill development of children. The internship will provide an opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and experience in a humanitarian development setting while contributing to the implementation of the same program within ChildFund Sri Lanka. The internship will offer a monthly fixed allowance, and a flexible weekly time commitment (08 hours in 5 days). The total duration of the internship will be for about Four months. The age limit of applicants is 18 to 29 years.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist the education coordinator with the below activities.
  • Coordinate within ChildFund Internal staff, Government, Other Likeminded Organizations, facilitators Educated & Protection and Wellbeing Program, Communities, and Children in organizing different program events.
  • Preparation of related EPW Project meeting reports, program guidelines, visit EPW Program implement Schools and interact with Teachers to ensure quality output from the Project Schools. Produce other required information for implementation and development of education programmes.
  • Attend the necessary program and logistical activities in arranging meetings, workshops, and training with education authorities, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend necessary field work, field visits, and follow-up actions in the implementation of the education program.

Learning opportunities

  • Learn about overall project cycle management; Intern will receive opportunities to learn about project planning, designing, implementation, monitoring, and Evaluation.
  • Learn about the thematic areas of Education & Socio-Emotional Learning.
  • Work with government & other stakeholders, community, and Children.
  • Gain experience in working at the ground level to enhance children's academic and social emotional skills.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Fresh graduate or enrolled in a recognized graduate program related to humanitarian or international development.
  • Advanced level qualified also considered.
  • Encourage positive behavior and keen attention on child protection.
  • Advance communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with a sense of team spirit.
  • Advanced ICT Skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoints), mobile technologies, virtual platforms, the internet, and email.
  • Proficiency in English with Sinhala languages with strong verbal and written communication skills.
