THE HALO TRUST - SRI LANKA

The HALO Trust is a non-political, non-religious NGO, registered in Britain as a charity (no.1001813 and SCO37870) and in the United States as a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit organisation. HALO specialises in the removal of the debris of war and employs almost 10,000 staff in 28 countries. All programmes are supported by a headquarters in the UK.

HALO has been working in Sri Lanka since 2002 and now has over 1,000 staff working in the Northern Province with offices in Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu. To date, HALO has safely destroyed over one million items of explosive ordnance, including more than 270,000 anti-personnel landmines. HALO and other mine action stakeholders are working to clear Sri Lanka of all known contamination by 2028 to meet Sri Lanka's obligations as a state party to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention. With seven international donors, HALO Sri Lanka is seeking a motivated and committed individual who can support with the Programme's monitoring and evaluation of project results, and donor reporting requirements.

Reports to:

Works closely with:

all HALO staff, including senior management.

Work cycle:

up to 25 days consecutively, with 5-7 days off at the end of the month.

Working hours:

Starting from 05.00-07.00 for 8 hours, including paid 1 hour lunch break.

The Interpreter will provide verbal and written translation, particularly in support to HALO Sri Lanka's international staff both in the field and in the office. Duties will include, providing verbal translation during meetings, minefield visits, and events, and providing written/typed translation of documents.

The candidate must be willing to work in all of HALO's areas of operations, sometimes for extended periods of time of up to a month.

Furthermore, the selected candidate should be able to legally work in Sri Lanka. Candidates who currently reside in the Northern Province, are prepared to relocate or have the ability to regularly commute to HALO's main office in Kilinochchi are preferred.
