Specific qualifications and experience:

  • An Attorney-at-Law and/or a LLB Degree from a recognized foreign university
  • Between 1-2 years (Associate) or 2-4 years (Senior Associate) of previous relevant experience in conveyancing in the UK
  • Previous work experience as an offshore lawyer for UK law firm will be an added advantage
  • Excellent English language skills in speaking and writing
  • Literacy in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and be a good team player
  • Solutions-driven, meticulous and responsible
  • Good communication, interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines
  • Articulate, analytical and have a decisive personality
  • Knowledge relating to the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) applicable in the United Kingdom and other related laws and regulations applicable to conveyances (both sales and purchase conveyances), grant of commercial leases and transfer of equities will be an added advantage.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing clients with commercially feasible solutions in line with the applicable laws and regulations
  • Understanding, interpreting and applying the appropriate laws and regulations
  • Participating in various activities relating to conveyancing, regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Overlooking the maintenance of internal legal records and legal documents
  • Providing fee quotations and on-boarding the client upon acceptance of the fee quote
  • Client file opening, issuing client care letters and seeking the relevant information from the client with regard to the proposed transaction
  • Liaising and maintaining a good relationship with clients and the other party's solicitors
  • Overseeing the post-completion steps in a real estate transaction whether it be a conveyance, commercial grant of lease or transfer of equities
  • Carrying out title searches and preparing reports on title
  • Overseeing the completion and post-completion matters of transactions including payment of deposits, SDLT (to the HM Revenue and Customs) and other monies applicable to the transactions at hand
  • Registration of Deeds with the HM Land Registry
  • Managing and reviewing the work discharged by the Associates/Junior Associates/Para Legals
