DIC Lanka is the local entity of DIC Corporation, the leading Printing Ink Manufacturing and Marketing Company in Sri Lanka seeks a suitable individual to fill the following position.
Engineer - Production & Maintenance
- Location: Homagama
Responsible for managing and optimizing all aspects of the production and maintenance process, ensuring quality and efficiency. You'll lead a team, develop and implement production planning and execution, and collaborate across departments to achieve goals.
Key Job Functions
- Production: Responsible for planned volumes, productivity, cost, safety & environmental as key performance indicators.
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements. Lead initiatives to implement new techniques, technologies, or best practices to enhance productivity, quality and reduce costs.
- Team Management: Supervise and motivate production staff to achieve performance targets and maintain a positive work environment. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
- Health, Safety & housekeeping: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Inventory Management & warehousing: Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess inventory. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and minimize storage costs.
- Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all production equipment is properly maintained and serviced to minimize downtime and prevent disruption to production schedules.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on production metrics, including output, efficiency and quality performance. Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or areas for improvement and develop action plans accordingly to DIC global & regional team.
- Communication: Foster open communication channels with other departments, including sales, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment of production activities with overall business objectives.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- BSc bachelor's degree/NDT in Engineering or any related qualification
- Proven experience in the chemical manufacturing industry over 3 years will be an added qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve production targets and quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset for process improvement.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems, MS Office, and data analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across local, regional & global team.
