Consultant - For the visual designing of brief / knowledge product ILO Country Office in Sri Lanka

1.0 Background

The Promoting Advancement of Vulnerable Persons and Enterprises (PAVE) project is built upon key pillars of advancing inclusive growth, private sector investment, entrepreneurship, and digitalization, through interventions in the agricultural and fisheries value chains in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It augments previous projects implemented by the ILO, including the Local Empowerment through Economic Development and Reconciliation (LEED+), and Local Empowerment through Economic Development (LEED) project.

Promoting gender, diversity, and inclusion in the Northern Province is among key objective of PAVE and was also among core area of focus for both LEED and LEED+. As part of the efforts to capture best practices, learnings, and challenges from previous projects, alongside laying the foundation for addressing the complexities of gender and disability inequalities, and better integrating gender and disability responsive approaches in implementation of PAVE, ILO is looking to create knowledge product to dissemination to a wider audience. These communication materials are intended for donor, government stakeholders, private sector, academia, think tanks, development partners, as well as other entities in the development sector both at local and global level.

2.0 Assignment

The supplier is required to visually design 01 brief / knowledge products based on content provided by the ILO and will be responsible for all graphic design responsibilities including layout,

infographics, briefing the printer, and other design assignments.

3.0 Specific Tasks

The supplier shall perform the following tasks towards fulfilment of assignment:

  • Familiarize themselves with the topic, target audience, purpose of brief/knowledge product Coordinate and collaborate with personnel who has developed the written content for the brief to identify sections that must be highlighted, sequence, and other elements. Familiarize themselves with ILO brand guidelines and mandatory requirements for publications of any nature.
  • Based on the above, design the cover and content of the documents, including any tables, graphs, illustrations-brief will be approximately 4500 words
  • Visually treat/ edit photographs provided by ILO to suit the design theme, if required
  • Provide a draft document layout
  • Provide a final document layout for both printing and publishing online
  • Create a printing package (all layout and design files, including pre-press for the printing house and web-versions) for publications and other communication products.
  • Brief the printer including by creating a mock-up if necessary

3.0 Deliverables

The supplier will provide the following deliverables for review and acceptance by the ILO:

  • At least 3 design options for front cover and theme for each product
  • Draft document layout
  • Final document layout for printing and publishing online
  • Printing packages (all layout and design files, including pre-press for the printing house and web-versions) for the brief/knowledge product

5.0 Duration of the Assignment

30 calendar days from signing of contract

6.0 Profile of Consultancy Service Provider

  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline (Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience, with demonstrated track record in designing and producing creative, quality visibility products, and experience in graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management.
  • Clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements of ILO Sri Lanka
  • Ability to work independently and to ensure high-quality deliverables within allocated time

7.0 Submission of Proposals

Please submit a proposal, including financial proposal with itemised cost, demonstrated alignment of experience and skills as outline in 'Profile of Consultancy Service Provider', portfolio of 2 previous knowledge products designed.
