Location:

Based at Sarvodaya Headquarters, #98, Rawatawatte Road, Moratuwa with regular visits to Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning - Main Campus, Aluthgama, Bandaragama

Overview:

SIHL is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director to join a growing team that aims to spearhead innovative educational opportunities. The Assistant Director will play a focal role in advancing the Institute's mission of providing quality higher learning rooted in the values of community, social responsibility, sustainability, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with the Institute's purpose and mission.
  • Academic Excellence: Manage the design, development, and delivery of innovative academic programs that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills and promote holistic development.
  • Faculty and Staff Development: Provide mentorship and support to faculty and staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Student Engagement: Ability to conduct learning interactions and cultivate a supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and active citizenship among students.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Forge partnerships with development partners, government agencies, and stakeholders to enhance experiential learning opportunities and address social issues through research, outreach, and learning programs.
  • Resource Mobilization: Collaborate with fundraising teams to secure funding and resources for scholarships and research grants.
  • Administrative Oversight: Ensure efficient operations and compliance with regulatory standards, including budget management, accreditation, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • MSc / MA in Development, Education Management, or strongly related Social Sciences from a recognized local or overseas University.
  • Minimum 06 years of experience in community development (education desirable) / educational leadership, preferably in a community development organization or higher education institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Sarvodaya philosophy and social transformation along with a track record of volunteership.
  • Proven track record of institutional leadership, strategic planning, program development and the ability to engage with a spectrum of stakeholders both local and international.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in Sinhala/Tamil and English. Trilingual desirable.
  • Experience in budgeting, fundraising, grant writing, and financial management.

Tenure and Remuneration:

Full-time, three-year contract with a six-month probationary period, with the potential to transition into permanent employment with professional development opportunities. Salary negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
