Berendina Development Services (BDS) work area includes Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Kegalle, Mullaitivu, Nuwara Eliya, and Trincomalee Districts as well as estates in Nuwara-Eliya District. BDS assists marginalized communities, including vulnerable men and women, widows, elders, persons with disabilities, and youth, to overcome poverty. The assistance offered is grant-based in the areas of livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene, housing, health, community infrastructure development, youth skill development, school development, and civic engagement as well as CSO strengthening. BDS annually supports over 25,000 families across the operating districts.

Job Role

District Youth Development Coordinator (DYDC) is responsible for implementing Youth Development Programs in the district. S/he will be responsible for liaison and coordination with all the key stakeholders related to Youth Development in the district and ensure a better environment for project implementation. Further, s/he will work closely and under the guidance of Regional Manager to ensure that the activities designed and implemented are in line with BDS new strategic plan.

Specific Duties

  • Provide a unique, holistic approach to address needs related to all life domains, with a primary focus on education, skills development, and employment.
  • Organize and conduct career guidance, counseling programs & soft skills development programs in partnership with other line agencies.
  • Maintain the district office as an information hub for job seekers and youth to test their careers and access information required for career development.
  • Facilitate youth to engage in industrially demanded skills development programs.
  • Capacitate youth to engage in self-enterprises.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A graduate or diploma holder in any discipline with at least two years' experience, preferably in the Development Sector.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in Youth Development or a similar field.
  • Computer literacy and ability to work in English is a must.
  • Should have a valid motorbike riding license. Age: below 35 years.
  • Female candidates are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of the project area would be considered an advantage.
