As we expand our production and operations, we are looking for an efficient and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in the exciting world of electric vehicle manufacturing at our factory at Rajagiriya.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design, development, and production of cutting-edge light electric vehicles. He/she should ideally have a strong background in vehicle design and manufacturing. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, testing, and improving the mechanical systems of our electric vehicles, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Design and Development:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop concepts and designs for electric vehicles.
- Create 3D models and engineering drawings for various vehicle components, including chassis, body, suspension, and drivetrain.
- Prototype Development:
- Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and conduct feasibility studies. Analyse prototype performance data and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Materials and Manufacturing Process Selection:
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for vehicle components to optimise strength, weight, and cost.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality and consistency of materials and components.
- Simulation and Analysis:
- Perform structural and thermal analyses to assess the performance and safety of vehicle components.
- Utilize CAD software and simulation tools to evaluate and optimize designs.
- Testing and Validation:
- Develop and execute test plans to validate the performance and durability of vehicle components.
- Collaborate with the testing team to ensure that vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for design improvements and cost reductions in existing vehicle systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to electric vehicles.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of designs, test results, and engineering changes. Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Proven experience in mechanical design and development within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle components and systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety requirements for electric vehicles.
