Assistant Engineer - Mechanical
Location: Kerawalapitiya
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic individual with a proven track record to join our team as an Assistant Engineer - Mechanical.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Project Manager and assist him in implementing project activities of the Cement Grinding Mill and Packing Plant.
- Review mechanical drawings, layouts, GA drawings, P&IDs, vendor documents, verify equipment sizing and technical specifications, coordinate with consultants and equipment suppliers and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Supervise installation of Mechanical equipment, Structural steel, Chutes, Hoppers, Conveyors, Compressed air systems, Cooling water pipelines, Lubrication piping, Hydraulic piping and Cement transport system.
- Conduct daily site supervision, monitor contractor performance, verify installation tolerances, check alignments, ensure proper grouting, monitor erection progress etc.
- Coordinate with Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Instrumentation Engineers, Automation Engineers, Contractors, Equipment suppliers and Consultants and resolve site issues promptly to prevent delays.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as lubrication, oil flushing, greasing, rotation checks, interlock checking, dry commissioning and wet commissioning etc.
- On completion of the commissioning activities, Plan, supervise, and execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities for the Cement Grinding Mill and Packing Plant.
- Guide and supervise Mechanical Foremen, Maintenance Technicians, Machine Operators and contract staff to ensure efficient plant operations.
- Prepare and maintain logbooks, maintenance records, and other relevant documentation.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Technology (NDT), HNDE, NDES in the field of Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent Qualifications in the field of Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 2 – 3 years of Experience in an Industrial Environment.
- Knowledge in PLC, Industrial Automation and Electronic Engineering is an added advantage.
- Male candidates below 35 years of age.
- Willingness to work on a shift basis.
(Fresh Diploma Holders may be considered for Trainee Assistant Engineer - Mechanical positions with a 9-month training period.)
