Assistant Manager – Indirect Procurement
A reputed tyre manufacturing & exporting company
Location
Biyagama, Sri Lanka
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end indirect procurement for manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and project requirements.
- Source and procure MRO materials, machinery spares, CAPEX items, maintenance services, utilities, facilities, consumables, and other technical requirements.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Projects, EHS, and Finance teams to understand specifications, priorities, budgets, and delivery timelines.
- Handle RFQ/RFP processes, supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations, purchase recommendations, and contract finalization.
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier base while monitoring cost, quality, delivery, service levels, and technical capability.
- Drive cost-saving, cost-avoidance, value-engineering, and supplier optimization initiatives without affecting operational continuity.
- Support procurement for plant expansions, machinery installations, engineering modifications, and other CAPEX projects.
- Monitor critical purchases and supplier performance to minimize production delays, equipment downtime, and supply risks.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, contracts, and supplier information through SAP/ERP systems.
- Prepare procurement reports covering spend, savings, supplier performance, lead times, and open orders.
Requirements:
- Degree or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
- Strong exposure to indirect procurement, MRO, engineering spares, CAPEX sourcing, maintenance services, and technical procurement.
- Proven experience in supplier sourcing, negotiation, contract management, cost analysis, and vendor development.
- Good understanding of manufacturing operations, technical specifications, and engineering-related procurement requirements.
- Experience with SAP or another ERP-based procurement system will be highly advantageous.
- Strong analytical, commercial, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Prior experience in automotive, tyre, rubber, FMCG, engineering, or large-scale manufacturing will be an added advantage.
