ASSISTANT MANAGER - MOTOR FLEET UNDERWRITING

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute departmental plans in line with SLIC policies, management objectives and underwriting guidelines.
- Evaluate discounts, rebates and benefits for Motor Fleet Insurance while balancing underwriting requirements and sales objectives.
- Provide timely solutions to inquiries from the sales force, branch network, Head Office, sales teams and customers, ensuring compliance with internal controls and procedures.
- Support the development and improvement of Motor Fleet Underwriting procedures, resource allocation and operational processes, while ensuring the security and confidentiality of underwriting-related information.
- Lead, deal and motivate subordinate staff to improve the quality and efficiency of fleet insurance policy servicing.
- Allocate duties and responsibilities to executive and clerical staff and optimize departmental workflow and business processes.
- Provide underwriting-related specifications and requirements to support the improvement of information systems.
- Manage staff performance through clear expectations, planning, monitoring, coaching and appropriate corrective action.
- Optimize staff utilization and motivate employees to achieve department targets effectively and efficiently.
- Identify and recommend appropriate training and development programmes for subordinate staff.
- Maintain accurate statistics on quoted, successful and unsuccessful new business and renewals, including competitor information, and submit monthly reports through the Manager/Senior Manager – Motor Underwriting to the DGM – Underwriting.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by management in line with the required competencies and business requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & PRE-REQUISITES
- A Master’s Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, Degree, Special Degree or Professional Qualification, or equivalent qualification relevant to the functional area, from a UGC-approved University/Institute.
- Minimum of three (03) years’ experience in Executive Grade.
- A professional qualification in Insurance (e.g., FII/CII) would be an added advantage.
- An MBA in a related field from a recognised University would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge and/or experience in Motor Insurance, particularly Motor Fleet Underwriting, would be an added advantage.
- Age should be below 45 years.
