Associate – Conveyancing
Invictus Law is a boutique law firm with a special focus on commercial and corporate transactions, real-estate transactions, corporate law, secretarial services and employment law.
We are seeking a competent and driven Attorney-at-Law to join our team as an Associate – Conveyancing, supporting our Conveyancing Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conveyancing Responsibilities
- Understanding and applying relevant property and land laws and regulations.
- Carrying out title searches at the Land Registry, examining the title, preparing pedigrees and Title Due Diligence Reports.
- Drafting, reviewing and attesting Deeds of Transfer, Lease Agreements, Mortgages and other notarial instruments.
- Handling title-related matters independently with minimal supervision.
- Liaising with clients, external attorneys and relevant government authorities.
- Maintaining proper internal legal records and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- An Attorney-at-Law, preferably holding an LLB degree from a recognised local or foreign university.
- 2–3 years of overall legal experience, including a minimum of two (02) years’ notarial experience in conducting title searches, drafting and attesting deeds, and managing conveyancing matters independently.
- Strong drafting and legal documentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of property law and civil procedure.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple matters, and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working and leadership skills.
- Notarial Licence in English within the Colombo District will be a distinct advantage.
