EXECUTIVE - INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the Company before the Labour Tribunal, Labour Department, arbitration, and other labour-related forums as authorized.
- Obtain and maintain certified copies of court proceedings, orders, and other official records relating to labour matters.
- Conduct reviews and verification of employees' personal files and litigation files to identify disciplinary inquiries, legal proceedings, and related matters, and furnish accurate and verified information to relevant units as required.
- Draft letters of appointment for Inquiry Officers, Presenting Officers, and external legal counsel.
- Prepare submissions, memoranda, and recommendations for Senior Management seeking approval for the appointment of Inquiry Officers, external counsel, and other related matters.
- Ensure that all procedural requirements for filing applications, motions, and other documents before the Labour Tribunal are completed accurately and within the prescribed timelines.
- Liaise and coordinate with external counsel, Inquiry Officers, company witnesses, and relevant departments to ensure the smooth conduct of disciplinary inquiries and legal proceedings.
- Handle customer complaints referred to the Industrial Relations Division by investigating the issues, coordinating with the relevant departments, and facilitating appropriate resolutions.
- Maintain and update records of Labour Tribunal cases, arbitration matters, disciplinary inquiries, customer complaints, and related legal files.
- Monitor hearing dates, filing deadlines, and follow-up actions to ensure timely compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records, inquiry proceedings, legal documentation, and customer complaint information at all times.
- Perform any other industrial relations and legal administration duties assigned by the management.
QUALIFICATIONS & PRE-REQUISITES
- Degree/Special Degree & Professional Qualification or Equivalent related to the functional area from a University/Institute approved by the UGC
- 1-2 years experience in similar capacity
- Knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws, Labour Tribunal procedures, disciplinary inquiry processes, and arbitration.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and coordination skills.
- Ability to investigate and resolve employee and customer complaints effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and document management.
- Age should be below 35 years.
