Database Administrator (DBA)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our ICT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance optimization, security, and availability of enterprise databases supporting mission-critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise database environments.
- Ensure database availability, integrity, security, backup, and recovery.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
- Support database upgrades, migrations, patching, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and performance issues.
- Work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors to support business applications.
- Implement and maintain database security standards and best practices.
- Prepare and maintain database documentation and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Database Administration.
- At least 1 year of experience managing enterprise-level database environments.
- Strong working knowledge of open-source database platforms:
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- Other open-source RDBMS platforms
- Experience with enterprise database products:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle Database
- Progress OpenEdge
- Good knowledge of operating systems including:
- AIX
- UNIX
- Linux
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Experience in database backup and recovery, replication, clustering, and high-availability configurations.
- Knowledge of database security, performance tuning, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Experience in the financial services sector will be an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications / Added Advantage
- Professional certifications in database technologies such as:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate / SQL Server Certifications
- PostgreSQL Certified Professional
- MySQL Database Administrator Certifications
- Progress OpenEdge Database Administration Certifications
- Experience with database clustering, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database platforms and database monitoring tools.
- Experience in the financial services industry will be an added advantage.
