VACANCY – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Position title: Executive Director

MWRAF is an organization dedicated to advocating for the rights, protection, and empowerment of marginalized Muslim women, youth and children. We engage in legal advocacy, community mobilization, policy research, and direct support services to advance gender justice, non-discrimination, and institutional accountability.
Position overview
The Executive Director (ED) provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and visionary guidance to fulfill the organization's mission. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED will manage program delivery, direct advocacy efforts, oversee financial sustainability, and foster strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, civil society, and policymakers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead institutional growth, ensuring programs align with core values of human rights, inclusion, and community empowerment.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of core programs (Equality and Justice, e.g., legal counseling, policy reform, psychosocial support, peacebuilding and social cohesion, economic empowerment).
- Drive fundraising strategies, grant writing, donor cultivation, and long-term institutional sustainability.
- Oversee Progress and financial reporting, audits, and compliance with statutory and legal, donor requirements.
- Promote a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive workplace culture centered on professional ethics and well-being.
Qualifications & experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Humanities, Public Policy, Social Work or related fields (or equivalent senior experience).
- Experience: 7–10+ years experience in development sector, non-profit management, human rights, or civil society organizations.
- Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English and one local language, Tamil /Sinhala
- Salary: negotiable
