Executive - BI and AI Engineer

Two-Year Fixed-Term Contract

Based in Colombo, Sri Lanka
n
We're looking for an Executive - BI and AI Engineer for a two-year fixed-term contract to support data-driven decisions and AI-integrated business systems. The role is evenly balanced between BI, analytics, machine learning and data science, and software development, AI integration and process automation.

Job Responsibilities:
n
n- Develop Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and KPIs using Power Query and DAX.
n- Build data pipelines, lakehouses and curated datasets in Microsoft Fabric or comparable platforms.
n- Analyse data and develop, evaluate and monitor machine learning models for practical business needs.
n- Develop APIs, backend services and web components for AI-integrated applications.
n- Integrate AI services, retrieval workflows, automation tools and enterprise systems.
n- Test, document, deploy and monitor BI, data and AI solutions with key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
n
n- Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline.
n- A minimum of one year's relevant experience in BI, analytics, data science, machine learning, software development or AI integration.
n- Hands-on Power BI experience in data modelling, DAX, Power Query, dashboard design and optimisation.
n- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with practical data analysis and machine learning experience.
n- Data engineering experience with Microsoft Fabric or another enterprise BI or cloud data platform.
n- Understanding of REST APIs, databases, Git and software integration for AI-enabled systems.
n- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have (Added Advantage):
n
n- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Search.
n- Exposure to RAG, agentic workflows, LangChain, LangGraph, MCP or document processing.
n- A portfolio demonstrating real-world BI, machine learning, data engineering or AI integration projects.
n- Knowledge of data governance, security, CI/CD, model evaluation and responsible AI.
