Assistant Manager - Tax

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically competent Assistant Manager – Tax to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day tax compliance, supporting tax planning and advisory matters, and ensuring the Group remains compliant with applicable tax laws and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and coordinate corporate tax, other taxes and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns, payments and statutory declarations.
  • Liaise with the Inland Revenue Department and other regulatory authorities on tax-related matters.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation, regulations, circulars and administrative practices and assess their impact on the business.
  • Provide tax advice to business units and management on transactions, contracts, imports, exports and business arrangements.
  • Support tax audits, assessments, investigations, appeals and correspondence with tax authorities.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimisation and risk mitigation while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Review tax implications of new business initiatives, investments, cross-border transactions and related-party transactions.
  • Coordinate with external tax consultants and auditors where required.
  • Assist in developing and implementing tax policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare tax-related reports and updates for senior management.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Part qualification or full qualification in CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA or a similar professional accounting qualification.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Taxation or a related discipline would be an added advantage.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in taxation, preferably with exposure to a large corporate or diversified group.
  • Experience in dealing with IRD tax audits, assessments and tax clearances will be an advantage.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
