Senior Manager – HR and Industrial Relations (Manufacturing)

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Professional Qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Labour Relations.
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or Labour Relations.
  • Minimum 7 years of industry experience in a Managerial HR role preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mandatory to have at least 3 years of hands-on work exposure in handling Trade Unions and negotiations on Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Capability to design incentive schemes, ability to work out overtime and other calculations with a good knowledge in financials.
  • Strong business acumen with good awareness on suitable best practices in factory & manufacturing related business environments.
  • Thorough knowledge in manufacturing related labour laws, regulatory compliances, health & safety practices, payroll, workman compensation related activities and overall Employee Relations.
  • Extensive knowledge in HR best practices, HR industry trends and Sri Lankan Labour Law.
  • Must possess a high level of leadership capabilities, excellent communication, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced inter- personal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills coupled with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • A resident in proximity to Kalutara area would be ideal.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the entire gamut of People Management, HR Development, Employee Relation functions of the Manufacturing plant in Kalutara.
  • Handling of all Industrial Relations activities for the AMW Group by being in line with stipulated Labor Laws and constitutions as per local context. Representing the company in labour matters with all authorities.
  • Manage all matters relating to Employee and Industrial Relations to achieve a conducive IR climate in the organization.
  • Negotiate and manage employee Trade Unions, Collective Bargaining Agreements and overall dispute resolution processes.
  • Implementing standard HR policies and procedures for the Manufacturing business.
  • Preparation of HR budgets, executing manpower planning and capacity planning activities.
  • Handling the functions of Security, Health & Safety, Administration, coordination with local authorities such as PHI’s, Ministry of Health officials, Police officers, and Labour Department officials.
  • Managing employee grievances effectively and resolving day to day worker concerns.
  • Training and Development, Coaching and Mentoring for Factory workers and Executive employees.
  • Create strategic talent attraction and retention plans to ensure human capital is available in line with the approved manpower plans.
  • Plan and execute employee welfare events activities.
