TRANSPORT MANAGER (BUTTALA)

What is the role?
This role requires a strategic leader who can enhance fleet performance, optimize resources, and drive operational excellence while aligning with the company's business objectives.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Oversee the transportation schedule to ensure timely deliveries and operations for the company’s requirements.
- Liase with relevant departments to ensure the vehicles meet the required operational standards.
- Plan and optimize routes to improve delivery efficiency and reduce fuel costs.
- Track vehicle usage and ensure optimal vehicle allocation for deliveries.
- Ensure all vehicles are insured, registered, and comply with local regulations.
- Maintain a log of transportation activities, including routes, timings, and any delays or issues.
- Monitor vehicle performance and address any issues before they become significant problems.
- In the case of major repairs, liaise with authorized service centers and ensure timely repairs are carried out.
- Ensure that all vehicles are maintained in accordance with safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records for each vehicle’s mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance history.
- Provide regular reports to management regarding vehicle status, maintenance costs, and transport efficiency.
- Assist with budgeting for vehicle maintenance, repair costs, and transport-related expenses.
What knowledge and skills are expected in an ideal candidate?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport, Mechanical or Automobile Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CILT, Lean Six Sigma, CLT, CML, or PMP would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in fleet or transport management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in the FMCG Industry would be an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of transport regulations, safety standards, and compliance.

This position is based at Buttala and company accommodation will be provided. Working days are from Monday to Friday, 7:30AM to 4:30PM and Saturday from 7:30AM to 12:30PM.
