VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Humanitarian Development Organization is a Non-Governmental Organization working in Sri Lanka since 2016 and committed to implement projects to improve the quality of life focusing Vulnerable men/women including children and youths by focusing and responding to their essential needs respecting the fundamental rights promoting their active participation and inclusion in building sustainable development processes in the selected divisions in the conflict affected areas in the north divisions.

Major Responsibilities
- Media and Communications Strategy
- Support the design and implementation of Humanitarian Development Organization’s communications and media strategy.
- Assist in executing advocacy campaigns and promoting key organizational initiatives such as the Program Report and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Content Creation & Storytelling
- Develop compelling success stories, reports, articles, and newsletters that showcase program impact.
- Prepare press releases, media briefs, publicity materials, and contribute to the annual report.
- Draft and edit content for social media, websites, and editorial publications.
- Website & Social Media Management
- Regularly update and maintain Humanitarian Development Organization’s website and social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter).
- Design and manage online campaigns and foster community engagement through digital platforms.
- Information Management
- Manage and update internal databases, content repositories, and intranet in line with organizational standards.
- Maintain and organize Humanitarian Development Organization’s media and communications database.
- Coordinate field visits to project locations, conduct independent monitoring, and prepare corresponding reports.
- Representation
- Represent Humanitarian Development Organization at donor meetings, stakeholder consultations, NGO coordination forums, and media events.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with government agencies, media outlets, development partners, and civil society organizations.
- Serve as a spokesperson for Humanitarian Development Organization when required, and ensure accurate and positive representation of the organization’s work in public and professional settings.
Skills & Qualifications
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing websites and social media platforms.
- Strong coordination, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively supporting program teams.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in media, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Fluency in Tamil and English (Sinhala would be an advantage).
