Senior Internal Auditor

Berendina Development Services (Guarantee) Limited is committed towards alleviating poverty among vulnerable and marginalized communities in Sri Lanka. Its vision is to create an empowered equitable society where poverty does not exist. Berendina Development Services (BDS) work area is Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Kandy Kegalle, Mullaitivu, Nuwara Eliya, and Trincomalee Districts and estates in Nuwara Eliya District. BDS assists marginalized communities including vulnerable men and women, widows, elders, persons with disabilities, and youth to overcome poverty. The assistance offered are grant-based in the areas of livelihood, water, sanitation and hygiene, housing, health, community infrastructure development, youth skill development, school development, and civic engagement as well as CSO strengthening. BDS annually supports over 25,000 families across the operating districts.

BDS is planning to recruit a Senior Internal Auditor to ensure the effective implementation of the BDS programmes within the principles of accountability and transparency. We seek proactive and self-motivated individual who has professional commitment and the ability to work in a challenging environment to fill the above vacancy.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive internal audits of the organization’s financial and operational systems, processes, compliances and controls.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management procedures, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform thorough analysis of financial statements, accounting records, and supporting documents to identify inconsistencies, errors, or fraudulent activities.
• Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and corrective action.
• Participate in special investigations as assigned by the board of directors.

Remuneration

Negotiable and market based attractive remuneration package will be offered depending on qualifications and experience. Please indicate your current salary in the application.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria

• Part qualification in ACA, ACMA or ACCA.
• Minimum five years’ experience as an Internal Auditor or in a similar role.
• Ability to write reports in English language is essential.
• High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Working knowledge of Sinhala/Tamil language is an added advantage.
• Age should be below 45 years.
