When it comes to individual, company, trust, partnership or Self-Managed Superannuation Fund taxation needs, Ekan Empire specializes in all areas of tax planning and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
  • Perform daily data entry of financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and merchant accounts.
  • Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements and deadlines.
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain records in accordance with Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Support annual audit processes and liaisons with external auditors.
  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll using payroll software.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, allowances, and deductions in compliance with Modern Awards.
  • Lodge payroll tax returns and manage PAYG withholding obligations.
  • Process superannuation guarantees contributions and ensure compliance with SG requirements.
  • Maintain employee records and assist with Work Cover and workers' compensation matters.
  • Provide bookkeeping services for individual clients, companies, trusts, partnerships, and SMSFs.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding their financial records and compliance obligations.
  • Assist senior staff with tax planning and business advisory projects.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules to support tax return preparation.
  • Respond to client queries and provide basic financial guidance within scope of qualifications.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for both physical and electronic records.
  • Utilize cloud-based accounting platforms and ensure data security protocols.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Support implementation of new accounting systems and processes.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training programs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Age between 25 - 50 years.
  • Minimum of 4 years' job-related experience in bookkeeping, accounting, auditing, or financial management.
  • Qualified or part-qualified with a recognized accounting body (AAT, CIMA, CA, ACCA, CMA) OR Bachelor's degree/Higher diploma in Accounting and Finance from a recognized university.
  • Australian work experience is highly advantageous and preferred.
  • Proficient experience with Xero and/or QuickBooks accounting software (mandatory requirement).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of Australian taxation system, BAS/IAS lodgments, and ATO compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Australian payroll systems and superannuation regulations.
  • Flexibility to work from home with a reliable setup, with work starting at 4:00 AM.
  • Must possess own PC/Laptop with strong, stable internet connection.
  • Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality in remote work environment.
  • Fluent English language skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with high processing accuracy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and client service skills.
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a performance-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with diverse types of entity (individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs).
  • Previous experience in Australian accounting or advisory firms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms and digital workflows.
