Job Title: Assistant Manager – Operations, Sales & Finance
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka (Covering both Kings Hotel and Kings Grand Hotel)
Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly capable and trustworthy Assistant Manager to lead operations, increase bookings and revenue, monitor financials, and uphold service excellence across two properties. This individual will be directly responsible for tight financial controls, achieving targets, and building a culture of accountability and professionalism.
Core Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Integrity
- Monitor and verify daily income, petty cash, procurement, and inventory.
- Audit departmental expenses, including kitchen and housekeeping costs.
- Detect and prevent theft or misuse of funds/resources.
- Review and reconcile front office cash books, receipts, and POS reports.
- Prepare weekly and monthly profit and loss summaries.
- Coordinate budgeting, cost reduction, and margin improvement with the owner.
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Maximize occupancy and room rates through effective revenue strategies.
- Increase direct bookings and improve OTA (Online Travel Agency) rankings.
- Build relationships with corporate clients, travel agents, and group bookings.
- Analyze sales performance and adjust action plans accordingly.
Hotel Operations Supervision
- Oversee day-to-day activities across both hotels.
- Ensure food cost control, maintenance scheduling, and efficient front desk operations.
- Conduct regular inspections for cleanliness, maintenance, and safety compliance.
Staff Management
- Supervise and support individual hotel managers.
- Conduct weekly staff performance reviews with actionable feedback.
- Set clear KPIs and accountability metrics.
- Hire, train, and discipline staff as necessary.
Online Presence & Marketing
- Boost reviews and ratings on Booking.com, Agoda, Google, and other platforms.
- Monitor and enhance social media and Google Business profiles.
- Collaborate with digital teams on seasonal promotions and marketing initiatives.
Guest Experience & Standards
- Maintain high service standards through regular audits and surprise checks.
- Personally handle VIP guests or escalated customer complaints.
- Review guest feedback and resolve root causes of negative reviews.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Degree/Diploma in Hotel Management, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing hotel operations with financial responsibility.
- Strong understanding of P&L statements, auditing, inventory control, and fraud prevention.
- Familiar with OTA platforms, POS systems, Excel, and Google Sheets.
- Fluent in English (Tamil/Sinhala an advantage).
- Trustworthy, assertive, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
