Assistant Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Assistant Engineer to join our group Engineering & Maintenance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring our properties facilities, equipment, and critical systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Group Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the various Engineering Departments.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, laundry systems, etc., are carried out in a successful and timely manner.
- Supervise and guide maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure quality workmanship and compliance.
- Monitor and maintain building management systems (BMS), power systems, water treatment plants, boilers, chillers, generators, and fire safety equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and critical systems to identify and address maintenance needs proactively.
- Ensure prompt and efficient handling of maintenance requests and breakdowns from all hotel departments to minimize downtime and guest inconvenience.
- Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules, energy management plans, and equipment upgrade proposals.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance reports.
- Monitor utility consumption and participate in initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, statutory regulations, fire safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
- Support in managing spare parts inventory, procurement of materials, and vendor coordination.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or recognized qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in engineering/maintenance roles within a hotel, resort, or large commercial facility.
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, or plumbing.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), fire and life safety systems, and energy conservation measures.
- Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, statutory compliance, and environmental practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach and the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
- Good leadership and communication skills with the ability to supervise teams and coordinate contractors.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, shifts, and on-call duties when required.
