GENERAL MANAGER - SALES
Our client is a well-established public limited company in the FMCG sector with a strong presence in personal care and herbal products. Backed by a trusted brand portfolio and an extensive distribution network, the company continues to drive sustainable growth and strengthen its market position across key channels. The organization is now seeking a dynamic, results-driven and commercially astute General Manager – Sales to lead its sales function and accelerate its next phase of growth.
The General Manager – Sales will be a high-performing and strategic sales leader with a proven track record in the FMCG sector. This role demands a commercially astute professional with the ability to lead large, diverse teams, drive channel excellence and deliver sustainable business growth. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company's sales vision while fostering a high-performance culture across the sales organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the incumbent will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales and channel strategies aligned with overall business objectives to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Lead the execution of sales strategies through effective deployment of internal sales teams and external partners including distributors and retailers.
- Be responsible for the preparation, management, and control of the sales budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and achievement of financial targets.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing function to strengthen brand presence and win at the point of sale through superior in-store execution.
- Drive, mentor, and inspire the sales team to consistently achieve and exceed defined KPIs and organizational targets.
- Establish best-in-class sales practices by benchmarking industry standards and enhancing availability, visibility, assortment, and merchandising excellence.
- Continuously monitor and optimize cost structures, identifying efficiencies and implementing innovative approaches to maximize profitability.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and achievement of business goals.
- Provide strategic input and leadership to contribute to broader corporate planning and decision-making.
- Develop and strengthen the capabilities of sales teams and external partners, ensuring a robust talent pipeline for future leadership roles.
- Ensure governance, compliance, and accountability across all sales operations.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in sales management within the FMCG industry, with at least 7–10 years in a senior leadership role managing general trade channels.
- Strong academic background, preferably a graduate or professionally qualified in the related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies that deliver sustained growth.
- Highly analytical with strong business acumen and a results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership capability with experience in managing, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
- A proactive, solution-driven individual with a positive mindset and the resilience to thrive in a dynamic and competitive environment.
