Vacancy – Business Controller Finance Department
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka | Industry: Food and Beverage
A leading food and beverage company with international business and offices overseas is seeking an experienced Business Controller to manage finance, cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting, trade finance, banking, product calculations, price setting, controlling, and support sales and business development departments.
Candidate Profile
- Age: 28–38 years
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in accounting, economics, business management or similar.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance, trade financing and banking, accounting, payroll & reporting.
- Experience from international operations is an advantage.
- Candidates with track record from food & beverage, retail, and manufacturing companies will be prioritized.
Key Skills
- Knowledge of SLFRS/SLERS for SMEs
- Good understanding of tax laws (Income Tax, VAT, WHT, EPF/ETF).
- Strong analytical, IT (Excel, accounting software), and reporting skills.
- Trade finance expertise related to production and sales, Letter of Credits, controlling, product cost calculations, import/export, shipping documents, order handling, and invoicing.
- Leadership qualities with excellent communication in English (Sinhala/Tamil an advantage).
Areas of expertise and tasks
- Trade finance and export and shipping related documents like Letter of credit, bank guarantees, commercial invoice, bill of lading etc.
- Price and cost analysis and optimization.
- Banking (payments, obtaining credit facilities like loans, mortgage, packing credit, production credit, factoring, leasing, overdraft etc.).
- Financial modelling, budgeting, valuation methods, calculation of dividends, issue of shares, share pricing.
- Knowledge of import/export, document handling, custom clearance and calculation of VAT, SESS, other fees & taxes.
- Skills and experience within sales and marketing like price strategy and sensitivity analysis, price and margin calculation, discounts, campaigns, production cost calculation and cost accounting.

Responsibilities
- Prepare SLFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Inland Revenue Act & statutory filings.
- Manage payroll and statutory contributions (EPF/ETF).
- Prepare monthly management accounts & annual reports.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting & audits.
- Trade finance, import and export, cost accounting, production and sales forecasting.
- Price setting, order handling, and invoicing.
