MONITORING EVALUATION ACCOUNTABILITY AND LEARNING (MEAL) ASSISTANT

NATIONAL OFFICE – PILIYANDALA

The MEAL Assistant is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing MEAL systems to support evidence-based programming. The role ensures high-quality data collection, strong accountability mechanisms, and effective learning processes across projects. The MEAL Assistant will work closely with programme teams, communities, and external stakeholders to strengthen programme effectiveness and organizational learning.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all MEAL activities, including monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning across assigned projects.
  • Ensure timely, accurate data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Consolidate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual M&E reports for internal and external use.
  • Conduct and produce high-quality field monitoring reports following agreed templates.
  • Manage and maintain MEAL databases, ensuring system integrity, accuracy, and appropriate access levels.
  • Strengthen organizational accountability and learning mechanisms.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis software.
  • Ability to travel to the field frequently.
