SENIOR MANAGER – UMPIRE DEVELOPMENT
Sri Lanka Cricket invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Senior Manager – Umpire Development. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing umpire education, performance, and pathway programmes to ensure high standards of officiating at all levels of cricket in Sri Lanka.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement national umpire development strategies in line with SLC and ICC guidelines
- Manage Umpire education programmes, workshops, seminars, and certification processes
- Formulate playing conditions and a code of conduct for all domestic and international tournaments in line with ICC guidelines, with the assistance of the Umpire Educator
- Establish a structured pathway for umpires and match referees, including succession planning and development frameworks for progressive career advancement
- Conduct examinations for umpires and match referees as and when required
- Formulate and implement umpire and match referee assignments in consultation with the Umpires Committee and the Head of Domestic Cricket
- Act as the point of contact between ACC/ICC and SLC for PCT requirements related to international inbound tours and ICC/ACC tournaments, and communicate relevant updates to domestic umpires
- Monitor and evaluate umpire performance across domestic and international matches
- Maintain an up-to-date database of umpires, assessors, and appointments
- Ensure compliance with Sri Lanka Cricket policies, ICC regulations, and best practices
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A recognised qualification in sports management, education, or a related field
- Extensive experience in cricket officiating, umpire development, or cricket administration
- Sound knowledge of the Laws of Cricket and ICC playing conditions
- Experience in training, assessing, or managing umpires at domestic or international level
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and manage programmes nationwide
