INTERN (DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE) NATIONAL OFFICE – PILIYANDALA

Are you passionate about humanitarian action, disaster preparedness, and community resilience? We are looking for a motivated and dynamic DPREP Intern to support the implementation of Disaster Preparedness and Response (DPREP) activities across our programme locations in Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination, monitoring, and documentation of DPREP activities.
  • Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, simulations, and awareness programmes.
  • Support risk assessments, preparedness planning, and emergency response readiness.
  • Coordinate with programme locations and stakeholders, including government and community partners.
  • Contribute to reporting, data management, communications, and project visibility.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in Disaster Management, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Interest in humanitarian action, climate resilience, and child protection.
  • Knowledge of Sinhala and/or Tamil is an asset.
  • Experience working with communities, youth groups, schools, or local authorities would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrates a proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and develop.
  • Willingness to travel to programme locations as required.
