Manager - Human Resources and Administration

BASED AT POLONNARUWA

JOB SCOPE:

As the Plant HR Manager, you will champion people strategy and HR operations across the plant, ensuring excellence in employee experience, compliance, and workforce performance. You will collaborate closely with plant leadership to implement HR processes that support business objectives, workforce engagement, statutory compliance, and operational productivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the plant HR strategy aligned to business goals and group directives.
  • Drive HR planning, workforce forecasting, and recruitment to ensure timely attainment of production headcount needs.
  • Foster positive employee and industrial relations across all levels of the plant.
  • Manage grievance handling, conduct thorough investigations, and administer employee disciplinary processes with fairness and consistency.
  • Ensure full adherence to Sri Lankan labour laws, statutory requirements, company policies, and global compliance standards relevant to apparel manufacturing.
  • Oversee accurate execution of HR operations including payroll coordination, attendance management, manpower auditing, and statutory reporting.
  • Provide robust HR analytics and insights to support senior leadership decision-making.
  • Cultivate a highly engaged workforce through meaningful engagement programs and welfare initiatives.
  • Support health, safety and well-being initiatives in partnership with relevant functions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with minimum 5 years in a Plant/Manufacturing HR leadership role (preferably in apparel or large-scale operations).
  • Proven track record of managing works HR, industrial relations, and statutory compliance.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lanka's labour legislation and HR compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent employee relations, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with ability to leverage HR metrics for people strategy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume manufacturing context while balancing strategic and operational imperatives.
