Transport Manager

The Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and results-driven Transport Manager to oversee and optimize our transportation and fleet operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of goods, managing fleet performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, controlling transportation costs, and leading the transport team to support the company's operational and distribution objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the company's transportation and fleet operations.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of finished products to customers and distribution centers.
- Monitor vehicle utilization, route planning, fuel consumption, and transportation costs.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, repairs, licensing, and insurance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, road safety standards, and company policies.
- Manage transport staff, including drivers and support personnel.
- Investigate and resolve transportation-related issues, delays, and customer complaints.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve fleet efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
- Prepare and analyze transport performance reports for management review.
- Maintain accurate records related to fleet operations, fuel usage, and vehicle performance.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree or Professional Qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in transport, logistics, or fleet management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of fleet management, transportation regulations, and route planning.
- Proven ability to manage drivers, transport schedules, and operational budgets.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with proficiency in MS Office and transport management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Sinhala and English.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety.
