ASSISTANT MANAGER – COMPLIANCE

LOCATION: COLOMBO 02 | AMW Capital Leasing & Finance PLC

Our Compliance team is enhancing the company's adherence to regulatory requirements through effective implementation of compliance controls and monitoring. WHAT WE OFFER

As the Assistant Manager – Compliance you will report directly to the Head of Compliance. We have a warm, collaborative, and open culture at AMW Capital Leasing with good standards of work-life balance. The role is fully on-site and includes mentorship directly from Head of Compliance, with exceptional growth potential. Training will be provided on all points of responsibilities mentioned below.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK

  • Strategic Governance & Board Reporting
    • Draft, refine, and present high-quality Board and Committee papers and Policy documents. You will translate the regulatory framework into clear operational requirements and proposals to the board.
  • High-Risk Event Monitoring & Approvals
    • You will review high-risk events and approve appropriate responses including regulatory reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Automation and Change Management
    • Lead the automation of compliance controls and drive changes to processes and technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Audits & Results
    • Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare supporting documentation, identify gaps, and track remediation actions.
  • Compliance Monitoring
    • Establish and maintain ongoing monitoring programs to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Compliance Culture
    • Develop and deliver compliance training and promote a culture of ethical and compliant behavior across the organization.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU

  • Core mindset: You can take a complex Act, Direction or Circular from the regulator and convert it into simple, actionable guidance for staff.
  • Systemic thinker: You identify underlying issues and look for root causes and scalable process improvements.
  • Able to manage high-pressure situations: You are comfortable acting as a final escalation point for high-risk decisions and can communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Tech savvy: Proficient with MS Office, data analysis tools, and basic compliance tech solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management: You will interact with senior management, regulators, and business units.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE (CLOSE TO 5–7 YEARS)

  • Compliance leadership: Significant experience in a senior compliance capacity with a track record in Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions programs and STR management.
  • Governance & Reporting: Experience drafting high-quality papers and presentations for management and board committees.
  • Audit Management & Remediation: Experience managing audits from start to finish, including remediation actions and reporting.

PREFERRED EDUCATION LEVEL

  • Bachelor's degree in related disciplines such as Compliance, Finance, Business, etc.
  • Professional qualification relevant to Compliance or the financial services industry.

BONUS POINTS (NICE-TO-HAVES)

  • Good IT knowledge – Power Automate, Power BI, data analytics or related tools.
  • Fluency in Tamil or Sinhala (or willingness to learn).
  • Experience in a Bank or Finance company or regulatory environment.
