ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT - TAXATION

LAUGFS Lubricants Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of LAUGFS Holdings, is Sri Lanka’s first and only local brand to manufacture and market its own range of lubricants, catering to all classes of motor vehicles and industries. Established in 2008, we have successfully challenged a market dominated by multinational brands, setting new benchmarks for locally manufactured lubricants. We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and analytical professional with a strong background in taxation to support our Finance function.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax computations and ensure the timely filing of SSL, VAT, WHT, APIT, and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) returns.
  • Handle tax assessments, prepare appeals, and liaise with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) on tax-related matters.
  • Maintain tax records and documentation, perform tax reconciliations, coordinate with the Group Tax Department, and assist in resolving tax-related issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Support the annual budgeting process by collecting, compiling, and validating financial data for the Oil Division.
  • Prepare preliminary Budget vs. Actual variance analyses and provide insights to support financial decision-making.
  • Assist in documentation and fund availability tracking for import-related transactions.
  • Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for external audits.
  • Compile and reconcile inventory and sales data against budgeted figures to support stock provisioning, and inventory planning.
  • Follow up with relevant stakeholders to clear balance sheet accounts and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

Requirements:

  • CA Sri Lanka – Corporate Level completed and currently pursuing the Strategic Level.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of Sri Lankan taxation law is mandatory.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems will be an added advantage.
