Accountant & Assistant Accountant

Job Summary

The Accountant/Assistant Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with accounting standards and statutory regulations. The role includes preparing financial statements, monitoring budgets, reconciling accounts, processing transactions, and providing timely financial analysis to support management decision-making. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

Location: Gampaha District (preferably in and around Ekala)

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.
  • Monitor budgets and expenditures, reporting variances to management.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Process payroll and employee reimbursements as required.
  • Provide financial insights and reports to support management decision-making.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as AAT/CMA Qualified or ICASL/CIMA/ACCA Part Qualified (or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software (preferably Tally).

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.
  • Familiarity with audit procedures and internal controls.
