POST OF
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
Join our dynamic team and build a rewarding career with us. We are looking for a detail-oriented, responsible professional who is passionate about accounting and financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial results and variance analyses.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing, including general-ledger reviews, reconciliations, schedules, provisions and journal entries.
- Review VAT, SSCL, WHT, income tax and other statutory computations and returns, ensuring timely compliance.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, collections and supplier payments.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, IRD audits, VAT refund processes and audits of related companies.
- Monitor project costs, inventory, work in progress, margins and profitability.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting and forecasting process and participate in performance-review meetings.
- Strengthen internal controls, improve finance processes and maintain accurate, audit-ready records.
- Allocate duties, monitor deadlines and performance, and guide and coach Finance team members.
- Coordinate with other departments on financial matters and handle routine finance decisions within approved authority limits.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Accounting or Finance, from a recognized university.
- Currently pursuing the Strategic Level of Chartered Accountancy or an equivalent qualification from another recognized professional accounting body.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance, preferably in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
- Thorough knowledge of SLFRS/LKAS and their practical application.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan taxation and current regulatory developments.
- Experience in management accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audits and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
- Experience in a project-based, engineering, importing or trading organization would be an added advantage.
