SENIOR EXECUTIVE / ASSISTANT MANAGER – INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

What You Will Help Build

We are looking for an experienced HR professional who can navigate complex employee matters with confidence, handle IR cases with sound judgement, champion labour-law compliance and build meaningful partnerships across the organisation.

  • Drive Industrial Relations – manage employee relations matters, grievances, disputes and workplace conflicts fairly and effectively.
  • Strengthen Labour Compliance – ensure HR practices and employee relations activities comply with applicable labour laws and regulations.
  • Partner with the Business – work closely with function heads and employees to address workplace concerns and provide practical HR solutions.
  • Manage Stakeholder Relationships – build effective relationships with employees, management and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Lead IR Initiatives – develop strategies to strengthen employee relations, resolve industrial disputes and promote a positive workplace environment.
  • Monitor & Report – track key IR metrics, identify trends and provide meaningful insights to senior management.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement – benchmark IR practices against industry standards and identify opportunities to improve processes and practices.
  • Manage IR Costs – Oversee IR-related budgets, including negotiation and legal costs, ensuring cost-effective and responsible utilisation of resources.

What You Will Do

What You Will Bring

  • LLB qualification is preferred: a degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field, and a professional HR qualification such as CQHRM are preferred.
  • Minimum 5–6 years of experience in a related HR/Industrial Relations field.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Sri Lankan Labour Laws and statutory compliance.
  • Proven experience in handling employee grievances, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to exercise maturity, objectivity and sound judgement in difficult situations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity.
  • Willingness to travel to designated business locations as required.
