CHIEF ENGINEER
Sanctuary Rainforest Eco Resort & Spa, an upcoming luxury wellness and eco-resort nestled in the pristine rainforest of Dominica, Caribbean, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to join our pre-opening leadership team.

THE ROLE
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the overall management of all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the resort is safe, efficient, sustainable and fully operational at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the pre-opening engineering function, including testing, commissioning and handover of all systems.
- Oversee all MEP systems: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water supply, drainage and more.
- Manage generators, pumps, fire & life-safety systems and other critical infrastructure.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of all resort areas, equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement maintenance programs, SOPs, schedules and equipment registers.
- Manage engineering budget, energy consumption, cost control and inventory.
- Lead, train and develop a skilled multicultural engineering team.
- Support sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives in line with our eco-resort philosophy.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and statutory regulations.
- Ensure the highest standards of guest comfort and operational readiness.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in hotels or resorts, including experience as Chief Engineer, Asst. Chief Engineer or similar senior role.
- International work experience is compulsory.
- Candidates must have previous working experience in the Middle East, Maldives, or another international hospitality destination outside their home country.
- Previous experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment is required.
- Pre-opening experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, building services, BMS, generators, pumps, water treatment and more.
- Experience with eco-resorts, remote island properties or sustainability-focused operations is an advantage.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with a hands-on approach.
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
