SENIOR DEPUTY MANAGER INTERNAL AUDIT
The job holder is responsible for providing reasonable assurance to the Board Audit Committee (BAC), through the Head of Audit, and to the Management of the Bank on the adequacy of the design and operating effectiveness of monitoring and processing controls across various auditable areas in line with the annual audit plan, while planning, performing, and leading yearly audits of Credit areas, including Business Lines and other credit support functions, and conducting other audits, verifications, and investigations assigned by the AVP - Internal Audit in line with the annual audit plan and special assignments.
THE JOB
- Prepare Risk Assessment Profiles (RAPs) for Credit-related auditable areas, including Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Retail Credit, Auto Finance and Trade Finance to determine the audit approach for the year.
- Prepare and update Credit Audit Programmes and control frameworks in line with changes in policies, procedures and based on the various intensities of the audits.
- Establish a robust internal control environment that is periodically reviewed & strengthened during credit audits, periodic checks etc. where necessary in line with Policies and Procedures.
- Assess the effectiveness of early warning systems and related controls to ensure timely identification of non-compliances, deviations and other credit-related risks.
- Launch and lead Credit Audits in a timely manner, conducting fieldwork and assessing auditees' adherence to established operational and monitoring controls in line with the Audit Programmes.
- Prepare audit reports based on fieldwork outcomes, pre-notice discussions, issue risk ratings and agreed management action plans.
- Complete and review audit reports in a timely manner, determine audit ratings and facilitate distribution to relevant stakeholders.
- Follow up on audit issues and conduct necessary sense-check reviews to assess where necessary.
- Maintain audit records evidence and necessary document management.
- Review policies, procedures, Product Programme Guides (PPGs), and underwriting standards on a timely basis.
- Undertake credit-related special assignments and investigations as required.
THE PERSON
- Possess a qualification in Banking & Finance / Related qualification in Credit/Credit Risk Management / Diploma in Credit Management / Diploma in Internal Auditing.
- Possess minimum 9 - 12 years of experience in Commercial Banking, including at least 5 – 7 years in Credit Evaluation, Credit Approval and/or Credit Risk Management will be a added advantage.
- Experience in working in an Internal Audit of a Commercial Bank, especially in credit audit will be an advantage.
- Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
