Commercial Executive - Freight Forwarding & Logistics | Colombo
Malship Logistics (Pvt) Ltd is a well-established company engaged in Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Shipping, Customs Clearance and related supply chain services. We are seeking a dynamic, customer-focused and result-oriented individual to join our team as a Commercial Executive.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing new business opportunities and maintaining existing customer relationships.
- Handle customer inquiries and provide timely quotations and service proposals.
- Obtain and negotiate freight rates with shipping lines, airlines, overseas agents and service providers.
- Prepare competitive quotations based on customer requirements.
- Follow up on quotations and convert potential inquiries into business.
- Coordinate closely with the Operations Department to ensure smooth execution of customer requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with customers and provide updates on shipments and services.
- Monitor market rates and competitor activities.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, customer inquiries and business opportunities.
- Assist the Commercial Manager in achieving sales and revenue targets.
- Attend to customer complaints and coordinate with relevant departments for timely resolution.
Requirements
- G.C.E. A/L, Diploma or professional qualification in Business Management, Marketing, Logistics, Shipping or a related field.
- 2–3 years' experience in a commercial, sales or customer service role.
- Experience in freight forwarding, shipping or logistics will be an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of sea freight, air freight and logistics services.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong customer-oriented approach and ability to work under pressure.
- Self-motivated, energetic and target-oriented.
