Head of Operations – Tyre Manufacturing

Location

Kaluthara, Sri Lanka

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall plant operations to achieve production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and efficiency targets.
  • Oversee key functions including production, engineering, maintenance, quality, planning, warehouse, and utilities.
  • Drive improvements in OEE, productivity, capacity utilization, yield, waste reduction, downtime, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Ensure production plans are achieved in line with customer requirements, export schedules, and delivery commitments.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, continuous improvement, process optimization, and automation initiatives.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure smooth end-to-end operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE, quality, environmental, statutory, and plant compliance standards.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, budgets, manufacturing costs, and plant performance, taking corrective action where required.
  • Support CAPEX, plant expansion, modernization, and operational excellence projects.
  • Lead, coach, and develop plant teams while building a strong performance and continuous-improvement culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline. MBA or postgraduate qualification in Operations / Business Management will be an added advantage.
  • 12+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with strong exposure to senior plant or operations leadership.
  • Previous experience in pneumatic tyres, solid tyres, rubber manufacturing, or related tyre production environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong exposure to production, engineering, maintenance, quality, planning, and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to improve productivity, cost, quality, capacity, OEE, waste, and delivery performance.
  • Experience in an export-oriented manufacturing environment will be a strong advantage.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills.
