Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau, a premier engineering consultancy organization at the forefront of infrastructure development in the country with wide range of expertise in different disciplines, invite applications from citizens of Sri Lanka for the below mentioned posts on Contract Basis.
01 Environmental Scientist
Required Qualification and Experience
- A. Four year Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management / Environmental Technology recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka. With One (01) year post qualifying relevant experience in Public Service / Corporation / Statutory Board / Institution or recognized Non-state Institution.
- B. Bachelor of Science Degree / qualification in the field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management / Environmental Technology recognized by UGC, Sri Lanka. With Five (05) years post qualifying relevant experience in Public Service / Corporation / Statutory Board / Institution or recognized Non-state Institution. And Associate Membership / Higher Level of Membership of Membership (IEPSL) of the Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka (IEPSL).
- C. Bachelor of Science Degree / qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka and recognized by the Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka (IEPSL) for admission to the Class of Associate Membership / Higher Level of Membership of Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka (IEPSL). And Post-graduate Diploma / Masters Degree in field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management / Environmental Technology. With a minimum of one (01) year post qualifying relevant experience in Public Service / Corporation / Statutory Board / Institution or recognized Non-state Institution.
And Duties and Responsibilities
- i. Responsible for carrying out, coordinating (with other disciplines, internal and external parties), supervising and guiding staff in.
- ii. Environmental studies and reports including Impact Assessment (IEA, EIA) as per the required standards and specified guidelines.
- iii. Organizing and performing related field works as required.
- iv. Submission of clear and concise written reports based on field inspections.
- v. Issuance of recommendations towards developing programs needed by the project to comply with environmental standards and regulations.
- vi. Environmental model studies related to air, water and noise for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- vii. Proposals for environmental monitoring programs.
- viii. Sampling plans / program for monitoring of air quality, water quality and any other environmental facilities.
- ix. Inspection of monitoring sites.
- x. Preparation of relevant sections of reports of environmental studies undertaken by the Bureau.
- xi. Incorporate the latest trends in the industry to the jobs undertaken.
- 3. Assisting the Senior Management in carrying out managerial functions as required in project activities and administration.
- 4. Supervising, Guiding, Training and ensuring Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of junior officers and other technical staff.
- 5. Any other duties assigned by the supervising officers.
02 Technical Assistant (Laboratory Works)
Educational
- a) Having passed the GCE O/L examination in Six (06) Subjects, including Sinhala/Tamil, and English in not more than two sittings, with Credit Passes for Four (04) Subjects including Mathematics and Science.
- b) Having passed three subjects (other than the General paper) at the GCE (A/L) examination, including Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry, in not more than two sittings.
- c) Having successfully completed a Diploma / Certificate course not less than NVQ Level 5 in the relevant field offered by a Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Assuring safe handling of laboratory equipment’s, chemicals and laboratory ware and related lab works.
- 2. Assuring the maintenance of laboratory ware and good housekeeping as per the quality standards to be maintained by the Laboratory.
- 3. Assisting the Supervisor / Engineer to carry out their duties and functions.
- 4. Responsible for the laboratory and in-situ testing, recording and maintenance of test reports and reporting.
- 5. Maintaining the confidentiality of the results and records of tests as required by the organization.
- 6. Supervising, coordinating and training the laboratory staff in performing their duties, day to day works, experiments/tests, field trials, and related works.
- 7. Studying the relevant standards / specifications / codes relevant to laboratory / field testing / works and carrying out laboratory functions accordingly.
- 8. Any other duties assigned by the supervising officer.
03 Laboratory Technician
Educational
- Having passed the GCE (O/L) examination in Six (06) Subjects not more than two sittings including Sinhala/Tamil, English, Mathematics and Science.
- And Successful completion of a Certificate Course not less than NVQ Level 4 in the relevant field conducted by an Institution approved by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Safe handling of laboratory equipment, chemicals and laboratory ware and related lab works.
- 2. Maintaining laboratory ware and good housekeeping as per the quality standards to be maintained by the Laboratory.
- 3. Assisting the Supervisor / Scientist / Chemist to carry out their duties and functions.
- 4. Responsible for the laboratory and in-situ testing, recording and maintenance of test reports and reporting.
- 5. Maintaining the confidentiality of the results and records of tests as required by the organization.
- 6. Supervising, coordinating and training the laboratory staff in performing their duties, day to day works, experiments/tests, field trials, and related works.
- 7. Any other duties assigned by the Supervising Officer.
04 Laboratory Helper
Educational
- Having passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in Six (06) Subjects including Sinhala / Tamil and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings. At least five (05) Subjects should be passed in one sitting.
- And Successful completion of a Technical Course in the relevant field of not less than Six (06) months duration (Not less than 720 hours) duration & NVQ Level – 2 or 3, accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Safe handling of laboratory equipment, chemicals and laboratory ware and related lab works.
- 2. Maintaining laboratory ware and housekeeping and keeping the lab in order.
- 3. Assisting in laboratory testing, recording and other related functions.
- 4. Receiving, Collecting, Storing, and Disposing the test samples in proper manner.
- 5. Keeping laboratory supplies in order.
- 6. Transporting, setting up, operation and maintenance of equipment.
- 7. Any other duties assigned by the Supervising Officer.
Salary & Other Benefits
- I. Selected applicants will be placed on a suitable salary point depending on qualifications and experience.
- II. Contribution of 12% and 3% of salary to the Employees Provident Fund and Employees Trust Fund respectively by the Bureau.
