ABOUT US
Roots is a reputed organisation operating across Hospitality. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Controller to join our finance team and help drive cost efficiency across operations.
ROLE SUMMARY
You will monitor and control food, beverage and operational costs; prepare regular cost reports, investigate variances, and implement controls and processes that protect margin and inventory. The role requires strong numerical skills, solid inventory and costing knowledge, and the ability to work closely with Purchasing, Stores, Kitchen and Finance teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and control food, beverage and operational costs; maintain daily cost sheets
- Prepare and analyse daily, weekly and monthly cost reports and KPIs
- Verify purchase orders, invoices, GRNs and stock movement for accuracy
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and investigate variances
- Implement and maintain cost-control procedures and internal controls
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Stores, Kitchen and Finance to resolve issues and optimise purchasing
- Prepare cost analysis, variance explanations and actionable recommendations for management
- Support budgeting, forecasting and month-end close activities as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Cost Management or related field
- 2-4 years experience in cost control (hospitality/FMCG/retail preferred)
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, costing methods and stock systems
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and experience with accounting/costing software
- Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams
