Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Purchasing Officer (Female) to join a leading company in the Construction Industry based in Ja-Ela. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, coordinating with suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services required for smooth business operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity within the Manufacturing or Construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Experience working with an ERP system will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and written skills in both English and Sinhala.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Female candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery requirements.
  • Obtain quotations, compare prices, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and related purchasing documentation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Monitor purchase orders, deliveries, and outstanding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers, quotations, purchase orders, and invoices.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet the required quality and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels and avoiding procurement delays.
  • Prepare purchasing reports and provide updates to management when required.
  • Ensure purchasing activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
